The very first gathering took place in a historic ‘Queenslander’ home in Ashmore, with fifty-four people cramming into a living room. We came together with one purpose: to live as freed people who know Jesus and make Jesus known. Word began to spread and people started meeting Jesus as we gained momentum with our ‘Wednesday Night Church’ meetings.
During this time, we launched ten Gospel Communities around the Gold Coast and began making disciples through small missional communities across our city.
A few months later on Sunday February 15th, 2015, we celebrated our official opening at the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra building!
The gospel continued to advance and God was graciously working through our young church. By June of 2015 we had outgrown our current facility and moved to the Life Development Centre in Carrara.
On our first birthday in February 2016, we announced our desire to plant Liberti Coomera and welcomed Darren & Teagen Dakers into the Liberti family. Darren began a church planting residency, and after a year of training and assessment, the Dakers were sent out in February 2017 with a core group of fifty-one people to start Liberti Coomera in the north of our city.
After eight weeks of gathering in the Daker’s home, Liberti Coomera moved to the Coomera TAFE facility, and publicly launched on Easter Sunday of 2017.
In May of 2017, after much prayer and discussion with the leadership of Liberti, Pastor Will Ross (one of Liberti’s external board members) made the decision to transition his church into the Liberti family of churches as our third church location!
Our hope is to continue to live out our conviction of being a ‘sending church’ that saturates SE Queensland with gospel-proclaiming, church-planting churches.
We are just getting started and our story is still being written. If you’re in the Gold Coast area, we’d love to invite you to come join the journey.
